For several mornings in a row recently, I awakened with the idea for a worldwide “social networking experiment.” The notion kept pestering me, like any good impulse guided by Spirit, so this page is your invitation to participate.

The Global Sense Experiment aims to demonstrate that we really can change the world by changing ourselves, which is the premise of my book, Global Sense: The 2012 Edition. Because we all are globally interconnected, I believe, everything we think, feel, say and do has a real impact on the world, which means each of us is globally powerful.

Are you willing to help test this theory? The experiment can takes as much or as little time as you wish over any three days you choose. Please try to perform this experiment on three consecutive days, so you help build momentum energetically. If you need to do it on three separate days, please try to keep the three days as close together as you can, such as within the same week.

DAY 1:  PERFORM AN ACT OF MINDFUL SELF RULE — Help Yourself

Choose any action that helps you connect more consciously to our global oneness in your heart, mind, body, and soul. For instance, you could meditate or pray in a forest, by a river, by the ocean, or in a beautiful park. You could eat 100 percent organic that day, if you do not do so already, or work an hour in a home organic garden. You could go for a relaxing massage or get a healing. You could do a forgiveness process to let go of any emotional charge you may be carrying about someone. Whatever you choose to do, check your conscience for the “rightness” of the choice. Imagine what our world would be like if everyone made a similar choice.

DAY 2: PERFORM AN ACT OF PERSONAL DEMOCRACY — Help Your Family or Community

Choose any action that expresses your global consciousness in your family and community. You could convert all of the light bulbs in your home to low-mercury or mercury-free compact fluorescent or LED bulbs. You could ask your family and neighbors to help you clean up an alley or a vacant lot. You could apologize and offer an amend to anyone you have injured or offended in some way. You could go to a city or town council meeting (or any community meeting), and speak up about a public issue that matters to you. Whatever you choose to do, check your conscience for the “rightness” of the choice. Imagine what our world would be like if everyone made a similar choice.

DAY 3: PERFORM AN ACT THAT MAKES GLOBAL SENSE — Help Our World

Choose any action that will directly or indirectly help the planet. Volunteer for a peaceful environmental organization or an organization working to end hunger or create more clean water. Call your government representatives and ask them to support global climate change legislation. Participate in a nonviolent demonstration to remedy economic injustice and encourage corporate accountability. Visualize world peace and engage in an affirmative prayer invoking divine energies to help humanity resolve our conflicts. Whatever you choose to do, check your conscience for the “rightness” of the choice. Imagine what our world would be like if everyone made a similar choice.
